Arborist Tree Work, Fire Smarting and Storm Cleanup

Flyin' N Fallin' may sound like a bit of a strange business name. However, I love to fly and I also love climbing trees so I decided to create a business that included both. In the beginning the business was for Tandem Paragliding and Tree Removal. Things have changed and I am no longer offering the Tandem Paragliding, now I only fly for myself. This means Flyin' N Fallin' is now a full time arborist company ready to assist you. We are based in the Columbia Valley and do work in Invermere, Windermere, Fairmont, Canal Flats, Radium, Brisco, Spillimacheen, and will possibly go as far as Parson or Kimberley.

Tree Removal

Removing some large Fir trees close to a house

Sometimes, trees unfortunately die or they are too close to houses or structures to be taken down all in one piece. In this case, the tree needs to be climbed and cut down in smaller pieces. That's what I am here for! Healthy trees can also be in the way or pose a potential risk if they are blown over, I can help you with this as well.

Everyone is well aware of the danger of Forest Fires these days. Fire smarting is a great way to reduce the risk of fire damage and to clean up your property. I also offer branch and bush pruning services.

Pricing

There is no set price, every job is different based on difficulty, size of tree, and personal risk or risk of damage to structures. Please call for a free onsite estimate.

Storm Cleanup

The climate is changing and we are now getting more powerful storms more often. This is a very unfortunate occurrence and can result in damage to property and structures. Hopefully this doesn't happen to you, but if it does then we have experience dealing with storm clean up and can be of help.

A large Spruce tree that was blown onto some ones home

Sometimes a crane is not an option so we had to get creative to support this tree. We lifted it from the building and then supported it so that we could cut chunks down without causing any damage to the house.

The same large Spruce spruce with the branches removed
This tree was blown over and hung up in 3 other trees and a crane had to be used to support it while it was being taken down

There are times when we must use a crane to do the job without causing any more damage to the structure or compromising safety.

There are also times when the trees are just so massive that a crane is the only way.

Whatever the case, we've got the experience to help you out.

Depending on the situation we may just use ropes and lower pieces by hand or just drop them when a crane is not needed.

 Stump Grinding

As of Spring 2025 Stump Grinding has been added to the business. The machine is only 35" wide so it can get in back yards and other tight spaces. The Stumps are ground down roughly 4" - 8" below the grass and the finished product is loose topsoil with some wood chips mixed in. Or if you have more room and would like the stump completely removed then I have a friend with a mini excavator who can help with that as well.

We don't normally plant trees but sometimes if they land on your house we can just stand them back up for you!

This was a special situation. Once we had removed most of the tree the weight of the roots allowed me to just push the tree back upright. This is something you have to be very careful with. You don't want to be on this tree when it goes up unexpectedly. Hopefully, you don't end up in situation where you have a tree like this on your house but if you do just give us a call for a free estimate!
